
WFDU WELCOMES IGUDESMAN & JOO
On Sunday, February 3rd at 8am, James Rana will welcome the internationally acclaimed classical music comedy duo: Aleksey Igudesman and Hyung Ki Joo on 89.1fm WFDU, the voice of Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Recently featured in the December edition of VANITY FAIR, in a piece authored by Sir Roger Moore, Igudesman and Joo's classical music comedy has been compared to Victor Borge, Dudley Moore and PDQ Bach. They will be completing their North American tour of A LITTLE NIGHTMARE MUSIC on Saturday, February 2nd at 8pm at the Tilles Center Concert Hall in Long Island, NY.

James Rana joined WFDU in 1994, when he was still Jimmy Rana. His program is a comedy / variety / documentary style talk show, with guests that include: Joey D'Auria (Bozo the Clown), Kenny Baker (R2D2), Yakov Smirnoff, Daniel Richter (the prehistoric man in 2001 A SPACE ODYSSEY), Cassandra Peterson (Elvira), Arlo Guthrie, Peter Schickele (PDQ Bach), horror host Count Gore DeVol, "Monty Python" actress Carole Cleveland and "Sesame Street" star Bob McGrath.
James’ life changed for good when he received the recordings of Bob and Ray and a short-wave radio at the age of 16. He enjoys old time radio plays, dramas and comedies, and BBC Radio. At WFDU, James has hosted a radio interview inside the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, as well as hosted 9 hours and 45 minutes straight of Holiday music, on Christmas day, by himself in the station.
Outside of the station, James’ film/theatre/television credits include: the Royal Shakespeare Company, Classical Theatre of Harlem, The Shakespeare Theatre, Big Apple Circus' "Circus To Go," Actors Shakespeare Company, and the Ensemble Studio Theatre, with guest appearances on "Law & Order: SVU," "Third Watch," "As The World Turns," "One Life To Live," "Wiener & Wiener" and sketches for "Conan O'Brien." James has starred in the multiple award winning film A GIRL LIKE YOU WITH A BOY LIKE ME, won "Best Play Award" from the Moondance International Film Festival, and directed several plays at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Other hobbies include kite flying, film festivals, museums, vegetarian restaurants, and cupcakes.
